AccessTheStory has a mission to engage people with the story of God, so that they experience the reality of God, and their understanding and proclamation of the gospel is changed.
One initiative run by AccessTheStory is their Verge camps, which present a big picture overview of the whole story of the Bible in a way that youth and young adults can engage with.
“We were asking ourselves, how can we get a generation engaged in God’s story? How can we release into the community of faith those who are living out God’s story?” said Mike.
“And that’s when we discovered a program that did just what we were looking for, and after a few amendments to suit Aussies, we ran our first Verge camp.”
Mike said the Verge camp has already had an amazing impact on young lives in South Australia and Western Australia.
“It is designed for young people over 15 and is run in partnership with local churches, youth groups and Christian organisations,” he said.
“Church kids and their non-Christian friends come and enjoy a great week away while they also find out for the first time how the Bible fits together – and how in the ongoing story they are part of it.”
“I’m very excited to be in Toowoomba and to be involved in the next camp being held at Hervey Bay from September 27 to October 2.”
When asked what results Verge was getting, Mike told the story of a boy who, after learning about baptism, piped up with: “Let’s do that baptism thing.”
