From Wednesday 24th September to Sunday 28th September, Living Grace Lutheran Church together with churches in Oakey held a week long outreach event called the Jesus Tent.

The Jesus Tent initiative is a week of sessions held in a tent in a community, with the desire to serve the local community.

The Jesus Tent was located next to the Oakey State High School, and although faced with 90km/hr winds on Thursday 25th, miraculously the tent withstood the onslaught and the week’s sessions could continue.

Pastor Lloyd Gill and school chaplain Sharon Salomon ran a daily kids session, while local brothers Hayden and Tyson King lead daily youth sessions, including a street art component headed up by Ellisa Parker.

Bruce Vandersee, CEO of Vanderfield, spoke at the Business Breakfast held on Thursday 25th September.

On Friday, there was a Ladies Morning Tea where Mandee Anderson shared, and local singer Megan King performed some of her music.

The evening meetings were where the truth of the Gospel was shared simply and powerfully by Pastor Stan Rudowski, Pastor Eloum Tiya and Pastor Edgar Mayer, and then people were invited to receive prayer for healing.

Some of the students from YWAM (Youth with a Mission) lead worship at the Friday and Saturday nights.

The opening night meeting was attended by double the number of people than the previous year’s Oakey Jesus Tent.
