He started Church on the Rock with his wife Suzie and his children, along with one other couple in 2013.
They felt to plant in the Rockville area because they had a sense that there were people there who had come from difficult backgrounds.
“We know that where there is need there are people who need Christ as Saviour,” said Rev Peter.
After a lot of prayer and community barbecues, the first church service was held in November 2013.
“There are a lot of challenges in church-planting, but there are also a lot of joys,” he said. “Like when I approached the Rockville School principal about using the hall for church and there was no hesitation at all.”
“The principal has been very welcoming. This is a faith ministry and we know God is in it. Sometimes when we put on a community barbecue in the school grounds we get up to 80 people. It is such a great way to get to know people and build relationships.”
Peter is a visionary who believes that prayer and intercession opens doors. With five baptisms in the first two years, he is grateful for all God is doing, and for the ongoing support from many people and particularly the Warwick Baptist Church.
The latest additions to Church on the Rock’s exciting journey are: Rock Kids - held on Friday afternoon at the Harlaxton Neighbourhood Centre from 3.30-4.30pm; and Rock Solid Youth on Saturday nights 6-8 m at the Rockville School Hall.
Church services are held at 10:00 am Sunday at Rockville State School Hall.
