God’s love expressed at Church of Christ, Toowoomba North

When the Church of Christ at Toowoomba North moved to a new building nearly 3 years ago, they wrote on the wall of their old building, “I believe.. that God is able to do abundantly more than we can ask or imagine, according to the power at work within us.”

They are excited at what God has done since then, and expectantly waiting for what is still to come.

Last month’s Queen’s Birthday weekend saw over 70  people from the church family, camping together at Somerset Dam. They shared in eating together, praying together, playing together, kayaking and swimming together.

On Sunday the highlight of their weekend was an open air church service with the baptism of David and Amy by their fathers.

The church is appreciating their new facility, which gives them room for new ministries. Every Tuesday two ministries work side by side to demonstrate the love of God to people of varied nationality.

TOTS (TOTs on Tuesday group) is a playgroup type programme for mums and their preschool children. Carers from the church come to help with the children whose mums come to the English teaching ministry that is happening simultaneously.

Women from Iraq, China, Japan, Iran, Afghanistan come to learn English, knowing that their children are enjoying the programme at TOTS. God’s love is being expressed to women of all religions and ethnicities.

This ministry has been blessed by the assistance of women from other churches who have helped as teachers, and by the use of a bus from another local congregation.

During the school holidays, TOTS and English take a holiday, as Kids Games takes over every available space for a programme for primary school children, designed by Scripture Union – games, Bible stories, craft, group activities and lots of fun.
