City Women celebrated their 10th anniversary last month with a night of sharing a decade of memories, stories and special reunions in making lives better for women and girls in the Toowoomba region.

Attending the incredible evening was Councillor Bill Cahill from Toowoomba Regional Council and MP Trevor Watts State Member for Toowoomba North who expressed his appreciation to Coordinator Letitia Shelton and the 200 or so volunteers from many different churches in 23 different ministries represented by City Women.

The night was full of surprises, amazing testimony and yummy dessert!

Some of the highlights included surprise guests, video clips from City Women Illawarra and Hungary expressing appreciation for support and inspiration and clips of many ministries.

Faithful mentors and volunteers who have worked side by side for many years were honoured for caring for the homeless, addicted, the lonely, poor, pregnant and young people.

Those attending responded with laughter and tears of joy to encouraging stories shared by many of those whose lives have been changed and impacted through the love of God shown to them in practical ways.

Ten years ago the then Mayor challenged those praying for Toowoomba not just to do good things in the churches but to step out of their comfort zone and do good things in the community.

Since then it is estimated that over 8000 women and girls have been served in some way by City Women, through mentoring, hospitality, camps, courses in schools, provision of goods, accommodation and simple friendship.

In supporting others, many women have found their own calling in God, fulfilment, value and purpose.

Reason to celebrate indeed!
