Voice FM is celebrating after experiencing its most successful End of Financial Year Appeal ever.

The station managed to raise a fraction over $30,000 during the last week of June (just short of their $35,000 target), but more significant was the increased support from the local community.

“Voice FM has done appeals in the past,” said General Manager Damien Johnson, “but usually the majority of money comes from a handful of larger donations.”

“This year we saw over 150 different individuals contribute, which is nearly four times as many as last year”. One of the reasons behind the success this year, according to Mr Johnson, is the clear vision of Voice FM.

“We exist to partner with the church in building a community of hope, grace and love here in Toowoomba,” he said.

“What God is doing here in this city is far bigger than a radio station. There is a longing in the hearts of all Christians to work together and be a part of sharing Christ’s love and building His Kingdom, and it is exciting!”.

The vision of the Christian radio station is to ‘Voice the Life Changing Message of Jesus Christ’, which Mr Johnson says is more than words.

“I see our vision operating in a number of ways. Firstly, we exist to promote and partner with other local ministries, inviting our listeners to engage with the hundreds of great Churches in our area."

"And secondly, we seek to model a genuine expression of authentic Christianity. For me this means choosing to enjoy any music that celebrates things of God like hope, grace, love, peace, forgiveness and reconciliation; making firm stands against evils in our city such as injustice, abuse, neglect, addiction and getting passionately angry when we see God’s creation defiled; And choosing to embrace everyone in our community irrespective of background or lifestyle”.

“I believe that Voice FM plays an important role in publicly declaring that the reality of God’s presence and the magnitude of His love is a wonderful and glorious truth for all to enjoy, and it is great seeing so many people in our community rallying with us to reveal that truth.”
